As in 1997 it had been shure that I´m gonna be the new singer of ZED YAGO, a new part of life started for me! I began preparing myself for the stage in my 5th year of life. Firstival I took ballett-lessons. Than, at the age of 12, I started singing! I have to say, that I´ve got the genes for singing in me! My grandma, who gave me her voice, was a very famous opera-singer in France. My grandpa was director of a lot opera-houses throughout France. As a child I sang many operas together with my grandma, but my heart even in this time belonged to hardrock and heavy-metal music. As a lot of you still know, Jimmy and me are married. As we first met in the beginning of the 90s, he was looking for a new singer. There had been a lot of very good singers, but ZED YAGO has a special style, which most of all singers couldn´t sing! In these days a lot of fanpost reached us and all of them asked for Zed yago on stage again! There had already two years been gone, I asked Jimmy to sing for him! He laughed at me, he didn´t know anything about my voice, wherefrom, I didn´t tell him! So I started singing the material of ZED YAGO and after 3 month of hard work I went to the rehearsal room together with Jimmy, Bubi and Tatch.It was the great premiere for me. I prepared myself with 7 songs from the "From Over yonder" and "Pilgrimage" CD. We started with "The Spell From Over Yonder", during singing I looked at the three others and had the feeling to watch three questionmarks! As the song had been finished, Jimmy looked at me and asked what this is, why i didn´t tell him, that I can sing! Hm, I don´t know! I think everything needs its time. So Jimmy and me started writing songs for the album "Invisible Guide". Let me tell you that I love it to write lyrics and especially with lots of mystic and fantasy! Even in the past I loved it to dive into the twilight zone. If I look to my gallery of ancestral portraits, there had been a really witch, and she always feeds me with information out of the twilight zone! My first meeting with ZED YAGO was wonderful! The shadow-world where she lives is without any frontiers.I´ve brought her to her invisible guide,who told her to let the sense of fantasy get clear in the minds of all human beings! On her ship, together with her crew, she meets the shamen, who together with the ghostmaid catches the lost souls, to clean them and let them free again! She walks through the times, feels the war and meets a general, who wants to wipe out a whole race! In this part ZED YAGO takes out the present into Yvonne Durand |
20 years, what a time! What happened in all this years, lots of ups and downs, destinies and tragedies, but good feelings shared our way! From the beginning ZED YAGO had been a band standing on their own, we never tried to swim with any others, we always wanted to be ourselfs! Like our mentality, a bit slower and heavier,we created a new style of music, "Dramatic Rock". People who laughed at us in the early days, later came on and crawled our ass! They loved us as "the" new band in germany, which would have the power to become successful throughout the whole world! "1986" Five musicians met for changing the world, rebels against the rules! The ship ZED YAGO had been led into water and the pirates of the hard beat entered the stages! At the beginning of 1987 we recorded under the help of our publisher the first album "From over yonder" at the studio M. It took one and a half year to get a release for this album, ´cause nobody believed in us! The funny thing what happened then was, that a few weeks after release it became "Record of the month" in the Metal Hammer and other magazines! So a short time later there was big interesst in this band and with racing speed the second album "Pilgrimage" went in the charts. We got supportjobs for bands like DEEP PURPLE, who had chosen ZED YAGO out of more than 50 bands, it was a big pleasure for us! The next year we did the support for WASP in great Britain and Ireland and the international press loved us! But in these days the problems inside the band started! The old singer Jutta arranged the kick-out of drummer Bubi Blacksmith. The success went up to her head and she tried in a strange way to manipulate the band for starting her own solo-carrier! 1990 the total split happened, Jutta left the band for forming her own band. We were looking for a new singer until 1992,but none was there to complete the band again! Extreme attacks through the whole press took all the power out of us and we had no fun anymore,to continue with this where we lived for so many years! Five years later there was a new meeting! Yvonne invited Jimmy to fill ZED YAGO with life again! I called Bubi and the bassplayer Tatch to come to the rehearsalroom for testing Yvonne as a singer! Bubi had listened to some recordings of her before and was really surprised! Just after a few minutes we looked at eachother and knew, that we had found the right singer for resatarting ZED YAGO! The power and the fun in playing of the early days came back to us! 1997 we played at the Wacken-Open-Air and the old fans loved us! After the old Bassplayer left the band in 1997 we´ve worked with a lot of different bassplayers, always trying to find the right one! We´ve found the perfect man in C. Shark, who joined us in 2005 and we wonna go our way with him. In 2002 we released the album " Best off" with two CD´s and the "Black Bone Song" Video, which had been on air on MTV and lots of other music-senders in the 80´s! 2005 we released our third studio-album INVISIBLE GUIDE, which had been sold in Germany, Austria and Switzerland by Rough Trade, but we had so much problems there, that now we´re under worldwide contract with Twilight Zone records and Twilight Distribution. Lots of ups and downs, but such is life! At this point lots of thanks to all our fans, who never let us fall down through all these years! We love you
